About the university
Built on the site of the former Zafarana Palace, Ain Shams University was founded in 1950 under the name “Ibrahim Pasha’s University.” It is the the third-oldest non-sectarian native public Egyptian university, following Cairo University and Alexandria University. The university's academic structure includes 14 faculties, 1 college, and 2 high institutes, in addition to 12 centers and special units, each of which caters to the 170,000 undergraduates. The university is also home to a range of programs offered to graduate and post-graduate degree-seekers. The university now has 8 campuses spread across Greater Cairo, the university was ranked a few years ago as the third-best school in Egypt,
